Sing
Lent
I have complete confidence, O God!
I will sing and praise you!
Wake up, my soul! ~ Psalm 108:1 (GNT)
Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. ~ James 5:13 (MSG)
KEY IDEA:
Take every opportunity you have to sing praise to God.
PRAYER:
Lord God, I'm grateful that you give me so much about which to be thankful. Yet, I remain unmoved.
I don't sing your praises very freely. It's only when you rescue me from something really bad that I get cranked up.
Give me, please, a song to sing and freedom to since it. I'm going to sing more. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
