Provider
THE 7th SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
You cause grass to grow for the livestock
and plants for people to use.
You allow them to produce food from the earth... ~ Psalm 104:14 (NLT)
Give us each day the food we need. ~ Luke 11:3 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
God is the source of all that we need.
PRAYER:
Generous God, you provide all that I need. Of course, there are things I think I need that I'm waiting for. But really... I don't need them. And my wants distract me from recognizing your daily generosity. Help me to look beyond my desires and to focus on the many ways which you provide. I want to start by thanking you for Jesus and the new life that he has provided -- and which is available to all who will trust him and receive what you give. Generous God, you provide all that I need. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
