Faithful
The Lord spoke to Jacob: I won’t leave you—I will do all I have promised. ~ Genesis 28:15b (CEV)
Later, when Jacob was about to die, he leaned on his walking stick and worshiped. Then because of his faith, he blessed each of Joseph’s sons. ~ Hebrews 11:21 (CEV)
KEY IDEA:
God was faithful to Jacob and like Jacob, we should remain with the Lord.
PRAYER:
Lord, it's so amazing to think of how faithful you are to your people. I know that I am not always faithful to you. I am easily distracted by other influences and am in need of forgiveness and restoration. Help me to draw strength from you faithfulness so that I can faithfully worship you until the end of my life, too. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
