Messenger and message

From the dazzle of Zion, God blazes into view. Our God makes his entrance, he’s not shy in his coming. Starbursts of fireworks precede him. ~ Psalm 50:2-3 (MSG)

Long ago in many ways and at many times God’s prophets spoke his message to our ancestors. But now at last, God sent his Son to bring his message to us. ~ Hebrews 1:1-2a (CEV)

KEY IDEA:
Jesus is the messenger and message of God.
PRAYER:
God, thank you for sending your Son Jesus into the world to bring your message to us. Except, he is not only the messenger -- he is also the blazing dazzling message itself. It's all about Jesus. However, I'm inclined to make it all about secondary matters. Forgive me for shifting the light from Jesus and his message and onto things that matter less. Help me to stay on story and keep it all about Jesus. I'm looking forward to the fireworks that precede him. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
