Turn to Jesus and experience his mercy

Be kind to me, O God, be kind. I'm turning you for safety with the entirety of who I am -- my very soul. That's how seriously I need your mercy. ~ Psalm 57:1a (ABP)

Dearest children, I'm am writing to you because its through Jesus that you are forgiven of your sins. ~ 1 John 2:12 (ABP)

KEY IDEA:
Turn to Jesus and experience his mercy.
PRAYER:
Dear God, thank you for sending your Son into the world to rescue us from being prisoners of sin. Continue to pour out your mercy on me because even though I know that I am forgiven and set free -- I still have some attachments to the old sinful ways. I know that you totally understand all that is happening to me and that your kindness cannot be derailed. I need to know how secure I am in you so that I can start to live into my forgiveness. I'm going to live the new life that Christ is developing in me. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
