Trustworthy

He ordered his servants to lift Daniel out of the den. So they did. They didn’t see any wounds on him. That’s because he had trusted in his God. ~ Daniel 6:23b (NIRV)

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! ~ Hebrews 10:35 (NLT)
Lord:

THANKS: You are totally trustworthy. You take care of your people -- even when they are in danger.

REGRETS: I worry about danger. I've become so good at seeing all the worse possible scenarios. Then I worry over the possibilities.

INTERCESSION: Calm me down and reassure me of your trustworthiness. Fill my mind with examples of how you care.

PURPOSE: I'm going to continue to trust you -- no matter what happens.

Amen.

Registered

You have rescued me! I will celebrate and shout, singing praises to you with all my heart. ~ Psalm 71:23 (CEV)

…rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. ~ Luke 10:20b (NLT)
Lord, I get so excited when people recognize me -- when they know my name. It makes me feel important. To be recognized by YOU seems like it is beyond imagination. Yet, that's what you do. You recognized me as important enough to send your Son to rescue me. You registered me as a citizen of heaven. Thank you. I'm going to sing praises to you with all my heart. Amen.

Good, just, patient, and faithful

Plow your fields, scatter seeds of justice, and harvest faithfulness. ~ Hosea 10:12a (CEV)

Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone. Don’t be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:14b-15 (CEV)
Lord,

THANKS: Thank you for being so good to us.

REGRETS: We certainly don't deserve your kindness. We tend to be self-centered and we return hate to those who hate us.

INTERCESSION: Don't give up on us. Keep changing us so that your Spirit transforms us into good, just, patient, and faithful people.

PURPOSE: That's my God-defined goal -- to become a good, just, patient, and faithful follower of Christ Jesus.

Amen.

Relax and Trust

You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. ~ Exodus 20:9-10a (NLT)

Then Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath...." Mark 2:27 (NLT)
Lord, thank you for establishing rest. I'm sorry that I do not take full advantage of it. I know in my head that I need it but I still live like I'm invincible and that I can do anything I set my mind to. Please help me to stand down and to allow you to do what you do, in the time that you have allotted to me. I'm going to relax and trust you. Amen.

DAILYTEXTS.ORG

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2011 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
