Lights on

At some point God's plan becomes clear.

PRAYER:

Lord God, thank you for revealing yourself through Christ Jesus. You don't leave us in the dark. Most importantly you show us your love and grace. Help me to be patient with those who have not yet seen. Amen.

God in the lion's den

So the king gave orders for Daniel to be taken and thrown into the pit filled with lions. He said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve so loyally, rescue you.” ~ Daniel 6:16 (GNT)

We are harassed, but we aren’t abandoned. We are knocked down, but we aren’t knocked out. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:9 (CEB)

KEY IDEA:

Even though we suffer and face opposition, God stays with us.

PRAYER:

Compassionate God, thank you for staying by my side when troubles come. Sometimes I'm so focused on dealing with the problems that I don't even notice that you are there by my side fixing the problems in your own way -- and your own time. Help me to stand calm as I face the lions -- but more importantly, help me to see that you are there with me. You're the best. Because of you I'm not going to let adversity get the best of me. Amen.

A credit to the Message of Christ

Dedicate yourselves completely to the Lord and worship only him. ~ 1 Samuel 7:3 (GNT)

Live in such a way that you are a credit to the Message of Christ. ~ Philippians 1:27 (MSG)

KEY IDEA:

When we live our lives for the Lord -- and him alone -- it brings honor to Christ.

PRAYER:

Lord, you are worthy of all recognition. Even though I'm not very good at it, I want to live my life solely to honor you. Help me to do that. I want to be a credible witness of the good news of Christ. Amen.

Pursue Christ's agenda

"Instead of claiming to know what God says, ask questions of one another, such as ‘How do we understand God in this?’ But don’t go around pretending to know it all, saying ‘God told me this . . . God told me that. . . .’" ~ Jeremiah 23:35 (MSG)

So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. ~ Colossians 3:1 (MSG)

KEY IDEA:

As we live the resurrection life with Christ we will be pursuing the agenda that Christ is implementing.

PRAYER:

Risen Savior, I thank you for the new life that is mine because of the Easter event. Forgive me for pretending to know more about how that works out and what you are doing than I actually do. I treat my educated speculation as fact. Give me the humility to focus instead on living out your agenda. I don't need to be the know-it-all expert in all things spiritual. Give me the wisdom to keep my mouth closed. And please give me the wisdom to speak. I'm going to pursue your agenda over mine. Amen.
