Remember

I, the Lord, made you, and I will not forget you. ~ Isaiah 44:21b (NLT)

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! ~ Hebrews 10:35 (NLT)

SUMMARY SENTENCE:
Don't forget that you're not forgotten.
PRAYER:
Faithful God, you are true to your word. You don't forget your people -- even when we forget that you are there for us. Recharge our confidence in you so that we can become the people you have called us to be -- so that I can complete the assignments you've given to me. No matter what happens I will not forget that you remember. Amen.

Lean more fully

I solemnly promised that you would belong to me and that I, the LORD God, would take care of you. ~ Ezekiel 16:8b (CEV)

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your steady and constant care. It's so steady and so constant that I fail to notice your faithfulness. Drop me some hints when I start to worry. I'm going to lean more fully into my position as a child of Christ Jesus. Amen.

Stand firm

The king was relieved to hear Daniel’s voice, and he gave orders for him to be taken out of the pit. Daniel’s faith in his God had kept him from being harmed. ~ Daniel 6:23 (CEV)

Keep alert. Be firm in your faith. Stay brave and strong. ~ 1 Corinthians 16:13 (CEV)

SUMMARY SENTENCE:
Stick with your godly convictions and you will be okay.
PRAYER:
Thank you, God, for all the ways you rescue your people. Help me to be brave and strong. Save me from my tendency to fixate on all the worst case scenarios. For now I know that because of Christ, even if I die that's not the worst thing -- that it is even a part of your new life plan. I know that there is no end to your rescue. Amen.

Free

The Lord said, "I have formed a relationship with him so that he will instruct his children and his household after him. And they will keep to the Lord’s path, being moral and just so that the Lord can do for Abraham everything he said he would." ~ Genesis 18:19a (CEB)

But now that you have been set free from sin and become slaves to God, you have the consequence of a holy life, and the outcome is eternal life. ~ Romans 6:22 (CEB)

SUMMARY SENTENCE:
We've been set-free to live godly lives for him.
PRAYER:
Gracious God, thank you for breaking the back of sin and setting us free from its grip. I don't take full advantage of that freedom. Forgive me and help me to live a holy life. I'm going to move forward confident that sin doesn't control me. Amen.

DAILYTEXTS.ORG

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
