I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and dishonesty. ~ Isaiah 61:8 (CEB)
Don’t run roughshod over the concerns of your brothers and sisters. Their concerns are God’s concerns, and he will take care of them. ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:6 (MSG)
SUMMARY SENTENCE
How we treat others is important to God.
PRAYER
God, I am so grateful for the way that you treat me. Even when I'm a jerk you're kind to me. I confess that I'm not so careful with others -- with their feelings, possessions, and aspirations. I just get going with my own plans and it's so easy to not even notice their concerns. Help me to be more sensitive and fair in the way that I treat others. I want my life to consistently reflect the generosity I've experienced through Christ Jesus. Amen.

Don't panic
Because I, your GOD, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’ ~ Isaiah 41:13 (MSG)
Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, “Master, save me!”
Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. ~ Matthew 14:30-31 (MSG)
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Don't panic. Jesus has things under control.
PRAYER
God, you are my rock in the swirling storm, my foundation in a falling-apart world. I'm sorry for giving in to my fears instead of resting in your saving grace. Let me feel the strong hand of Jesus pulling me to safety onto solid ground. Use my hands to bring hope and peace to others today. Amen. (Daily Texts, Mount Carmel Ministries edition.)

Generous
Honor God with everything you own... ~ Proverbs 3:9 (MSG)
Be generous -- even toward your enemies. And don't worry about getting paid back when you lend something to them. The Most High will reward you. After all, this is how God is with you; and as his children, you'll be carrying on the family tradition. ~ Luke 6:35 (ABP)
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Use what you have to honor God.
PRAYER
Most High God, you've entrusted me with a lot. I have health. I have a place in the world. I have safety. I have family and friends. I have a life. Thank you! I confess that I'm pretty conservative -- holding on tightly to what I have because I want to make sure that the future is secure. Help me to be more generous with my life -- with all I have. I'm going to use it all to honor you. Amen!

Faith
Abram left just as the LORD told him... ~ Genesis 12:4 (CEB)
The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God. ~ Galatians 3:7 (NLT)
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Those who act in faith are those who inherit the blessings of God.
PRAYER
Gracious God, thank you for calling us all to faith. I get excited when I see how the earliest promises apply to even me. I confess that in spite of this good news, I'm prone to wander and apply my faith in unreliable people, institutions, and things. Draw me even closer so that trusting you becomes more natural. I want it to be my default attitude and action. I'm looking forward to where you are leading. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
