PSALM 41:4 (CEB)
“Lord, have mercy on me! Heal me because I have sinned against you.”
JAMES 5:15 (NTE)
Faithful prayer will rescue the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sin, it will be forgiven them.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Because God is merciful his restoration is complete, with healing and forgiveness.
PRAYER
Merciful Father, you come to me in the midst of my guilt and shame. Though I am undeserving, in your mercy you deliver me from my sins and restore me to whole living. How can I thank you enough? Nurture in me a loving and forgiving spirit toward those around me. Amen. (Daily Texts, Mount Carmel Ministries edition)

UNCHANGING
DANIEL 6:26 (NLT)
For he is the living God,
and he will endure forever.
His kingdom will never be destroyed,
and his rule will never end.
HEBREWS 13:8 (NTE)
Jesus the Messiah is the same, yesterday, today and for ever.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Since Jesus is the constant and faithful expression of the unchanging God we can always rely on him.
PRAYER
Faithful God, I'm struggling because so much has changed in such a short period of time. I appreciate that you are the same whether there is a pandemic or not -- whether we are in crisis or not. Help me to calm down and trust that you are working out your plan even when there is chaos around me. I'm going to align with you and your unending kingdom -- no matter what happens. Amen.

REVEALED
ISAIAH 40:5 (NLT)
Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed,
and all people will see it together.
The LORD has spoken!
JOHN 1:14 (NTE)
And the Word became flesh, and lived among us. We gazed upon his glory, glory like that of the father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
In Jesus God has shown himself for all to see.
PRAYER
Thank you, Great God, for stooping down to let us see you for who you are. I confess that even though I've caught a glimpse and I like what I see, that I'm easily distracted. I tend to minimize the significance of it all because I'm so busy looking around. Help me to narrow my focus so that I have a chance to really take in the glorious view. I'm going to allow what I see to change my life. Amen.

GOD'S EXTRAVAGANT GENEROSITY
DEUTERONOMY 8:7 (NLT)
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills.
ROMANS 8:32 (MSG)
If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God's provision for us is extravagant and sacrificial.
PRAYER
Thank you, God, for your love and for lavishing such extravagant gifts on us. Forgive me for focusing on what I don't have and allowing that to form my understanding of you and the life you've given to me. Refocus my life so that I'm cognizant of your exorbitant gifts. I will never again think of you as a Scrooge. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
