SOLID

PSALM 48:8 (MSG)
We heard about it, then we saw it
with our eyes—
In GOD’s city of Angel Armies,
in the city our God
Set on firm foundations,
firm forever.

EPHESIANS 2:22 (CEB)
Christ is building you into a place where God lives through the Spirit.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
What God builds is solid.

PRAYER
We are grateful, Christ Jesus, that you are expanding your kingdom -- building in a solid way. So much of what we encounter in life is flimsy -- even much of what I embrace. Help me to raise the bar for what is acceptable. I want to be a part of the solid future that you are building through the work of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

LIGHT

MICAH 7:9 (CEB)
He will bring me out into the light;
I will see by means of his righteousness.

ACTS 9:17 (CEB)
Ananias went to the house. He placed his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord sent me—Jesus, who appeared to you on the way as you were coming here. He sent me so that you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Wait patiently for the Lord to show you what he's doing.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for turning on the light when we most need to see. I admit that I get discouraged by the darkness around me and even in my own life. I'm in need of your light right now. I need to see what's really happening so that I can step forward with confidence that you are remaking the world into a righteous realm. I'm going to wait patiently for the light. Amen.

STICK WITH GOD

JOSHUA 14:8 (MSG)
Caleb said to Joshua, "My companions who went with me discouraged the people, but I stuck to my guns, totally with GOD, my God."

REVELATION 3:11-12 (MSG)
Keep a tight grip on what you have so no one distracts you and steals your crown.

“I’ll make each conqueror a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, a permanent position of honor.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Stick with God.

PRAYER
Thank you, Lord, for being my mighty and trustworthy God. You lead me safely through unfamiliar places in life. Have mercy on me when doubts force me to step back into the shadows. Give me courage to serve you with undying faithfulness. Help me to strengthen others to hold fast to you in times of trial. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

TRUSTWORTY GOD

ECCLESIASTES 3:14 (CEB)
I know that whatever God does will last forever; it’s impossible to add to it or take away from it.

ROMANS 11:29 (MSG)
God’s gifts and God’s call are under full warranty—never canceled, never rescinded.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
You can count on him because God never goes back on his word.

PRAYER
God, in this world where people flake out and it's hard to count on them to keep their promises, you are totally trustworthy. Thank you. I confess that I worry about the future. Help me to see that you're not going to withdraw your love and that you are a promise keeper. I'm going to trust that you are working out the best on my behalf. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
