God has come close to us through Christ Jesus.
PRAYER
Thank you, Christ Jesus, for coming to us to reveal God in ways never before seen. You are God in the flesh. Forgive me for acting as though you are distant and uninvolved. It is easy to ignore disengaged deities. Open my eyes to your ongoing engagement in history and the wonder of your presence. I'm going to sit up and pay closer attention to what you're doing. Amen.

POWER
MICAH 2:1 (MSG)
Doom to those who plot evil,
who go to bed dreaming up crimes!
As soon as it’s morning,
they’re off, full of energy, doing what they’ve planned.
MATTHEW 20:25-26 (CEB)
But Jesus called them over and said, "You know that those who rule the Gentiles show off their authority over them and their high-ranking officials order them around. But that’s not the way it will be with you. Whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant."
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God's desire is that we'd use whatever power we have to serve those with less.
PRAYER
Gracious God, you've given us more power and privilege than we're ready to acknowledge. Perhaps we're afraid that you'd expect us to use it all for the good of our neighbors. Jolt us with a fresh dose of reality so that we can better align our lives with Jesus and his kingdom. Afterall he came to show us how to serve. Amen.

TRUST THE LORD

Help us defeat our enemies!
No one else can rescue us.
2 THESSALONIANS 3:3 (CEV)
But the Lord can be trusted to make you strong and protect you from harm.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Trust the Lord because he has your back.
PRAYER
Almighty God, you are powerful and trustworthy. Even when trouble is beyond definition, you are the reliable shield that keeps me moving. I admit that sometimes I doubt but even then you've got my back. Keep me safe and give me confidence to face the trouble that is on the horizon. I'm going to tune out the propaganda from the enemy and trust in you my Savior. Amen.

BLESSINGS!
DEUTERONOMY 28:12 (NLT)
The LORD will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do.
1 PETER 2:3 (NLT)
...you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
We've already had a small taste of the Lord's kindness -- just wait until the whole meal arrives.
PRAYER
God, you have already begun to bless me. I can't really count all the blessings -- there are too many. Yet, I slide into worrying over the silliest little things. As your blessings rain into my life, flood out all the worries and pettiness. Fill me with forgiveness and kindness to share. I'm going to live in anticipation of all that you have stored up to share with us. Amen.
