FELLOWSHIP

LEVITICUS 26:12 (CEB)
I will walk around among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.

1 JOHN 1:3-4 (CEB)
Our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that our joy can be complete.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God wants to have fellowship with us and our lives are most complete when we live in that fellowship.

PRAYER
I am so grateful, God, that you seek out fellowship with us. I confess that sometimes I go for walks without you. It's not that I'm intentionally ignoring you but I get so caught up in things that I forget my priorities. Remind me of your presence and the joy that comes when walking with you. Amen.

GOD ACTS

ISAIAH 65:24 (CEV)
I will answer their prayers
before they finish praying.

ROMANS 5:8 (MSG)
God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God acts before we know enough to express our needs.

PRAYER
Kind God, it is wonderful that you know more about what I need than I could ever know. Forgive me for being a know-it-all when it comes to self-awareness. Help me to humbly accept your solutions for my life -- and the world. I know that they are already in process. Amen.

GOD ALONE

2 CHRONICLES 25:8 (MSG)
God and God only has the power to help or hurt your cause.

ROMANS 8:34 (NLT)
Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
God alone has the power to turn our situation into a success.

PRAYER
God, I appreciate how you advocate for us -- for me. Even when I'm clearly in the wrong you're still there making my case on the basis of what Christ Jesus has done. Forgive me for assuming that I have the power to make things right and help me to grasp the wonder of your mercy and grace. I'm going to look to you. Amen.

LET'S PARTY!

1 CHRONICLES 13:8 (NLT)
David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments—lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

PHILIPPIANS 4:4-5 (NLT)
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Celebrate God and what he does!

PRAYER
Glorious God, there are always lots of reasons to worship. Forgive me for turning celebration into an obligation by only focusing on the things which catch my immediate attention. Draw me back to the party. I want to make music and dance before you. Amen.

DAILYTEXTS.ORG

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
