HIS OWN

ISAIAH 45:12 (NLT)
I am the one who made the earth
and created people to live on it.

JOHN 1:11 (NLT)
He came to his own people...

SUMMARY SENTENCE
When Jesus came into the world he was no stranger to us.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for the gift of the incarnation -- coming to live among us. You came to set things right and restore our relationship with you. Yet, we sing Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, believing we can create joy and lift ourselves out of the meaningless lives we've developed for ourselves. Help us to focus on what really matters. I'm going to sing Joy to the World. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

JOYFULLY SEEK

The Fourth Sunday in Advent

PSALM 105:3 (CEB)
Let the hearts rejoice of all those seeking the LORD!

2 CORINTHIANS 13:11 (NLT)
Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Joyfully seek God; receive his love and peace.

PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for the gift of your Son into the world -- the gift that changed everything. I admit that I can get discouraged with the way things are. Renew the joy in my life -- the joy that flows from living with Christ Jesus. I'm going to bask in his love and peace.

Amen.

THE GIVER

GENESIS 5:2 (NLT)
He created them male and female, and he blessed them and called them “human.”

JUDE 2 (ABP)
I pray that God will continue to flood your lives with mercy, peace, and love.

SUMMARY SENTENCE
Creator God, your gift of life amazes me. The world is teeming with the work of your hands, and yet I don't appreciate all that I have. Send your peace to my heart so that my restlessness will be gone. Instead, I want to share your love with a world in need of the Good News of Jesus. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

PRAYER
God is the giver who keeps on giving.

Amen.

DEPEND ON JESUS

LAMENTATIONS 3:24 (CEV)
Deep in my heart I say,
“The LORD is all I need;
I can depend on him!”

1 PETER 1:8-9 (CEV)
You have never seen Jesus, and you don’t see him now. But still you love him and have faith in him, and no words can tell how glad and happy you are to be saved. That’s why you have faith.

SUMMARY SENTENCE

Depend on Jesus; he is all you need.

PRAYER
Thank you, God, for providing everything I need -- from daily bread to eternal salvation. Sometimes I lose sight of your generosity and allow my needs to bog me down. Lift me up again. Recharge my faith. I know that I can count on you for that.

Amen.
