PSALM 7:8 (ABP)
GOD is the one who judges the people of the world and their nations.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:10 (CEV)
After all, Christ will judge each of us for the good or the bad that we do while living in these bodies.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
There is an accounting for how we live.
PRAYER
Just and righteous God, thank you for being fair. I don't have to worry about that. Forgive me for taking on your role and acting as though I'm qualified to judge others. Give me the grace to leave judgment to you. I'm looking forward to your justice. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

GIFTS
PSALM 106:4 (NLT)
Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people;
come near and rescue me.
EPHESIANS 4:7 (MSG)
Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
The gifts of God are unending.
PRAYER
Generous God, you continue to give good gifts to us. If I started to count my blessings there would be no end to the list. Yet, I let my mind drift toward a scarcity mindset. I worry and fret when I can't see how the ends will all meet or how humanity will survie. Show me again your favor and generosity. I'm going to trust that you are going to stay the way that you are -- gracious and generous. Amen.

HEALING LOVE
PSALM 40:17 (ABP)
GOD, I'm a basket case with nothing to offer. Please remember me.
ROMANS 5:5 (ABP)
The hope generated by God's love doesn't disappoint.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Live according to the hope generated by the love of Christ.
PRAYER
O my God, you are my helper and deliverer. Yet I resist owning up to the power and depth of the sin that I carry within me. Help me to fully recognize my need for healing. May I look today not to my own meager resources but instead to your abounding love for me. Amen. (Daily Texts, Ground Up Grace edition)

PRESENT
The Seventh Sunday in Eastertide
1 KINGS 8:27 (MSG)
Can it be that God will actually move into our neighborhood? Why, the cosmos itself isn’t large enough to give you breathing room, let alone this Temple I’ve built.
1 JOHN 4:12 (ABP)
Of course, no one has ever seen God. But as we love each other it becomes clear that he has come to live within us. And this isn't just a knock-off version of his love but the real thing -- perfect and complete.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Our loving God is really close.
PRAYER
Big God, nothing can contain you -- yet you take up residence within us, with your love bursting our seams to ooze onto everyone and everything around us. Forgive me for the ways that I try to overexplain this mystery -- as though I've somehow got a handle on it all. Help me to relax and bask in your loving presence. I want you to flow in, through, and out of me. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
