Pentecost Sunday
PSALM 73:26 (CEV)
My body and mind may fail,
but you are my strength
and my choice forever.
ROMANS 8:23-24 (CEV)
The Spirit makes us sure about what we will be in the future. But now we groan silently, while we wait for God to show that we are his children. This means that our bodies will also be set free. And this hope is what saves us.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Even as our bodies fail, our hope is that God will not.
PRAYER
Come, Spirit, come. We are frustrated by the things going wrong in life -- the pain of a broken world, deteriorating bodies and minds, and worry over the future. Calm us down and refill us with hope so that we can move forward under your power. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name; your Kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. LEADING
EXODUS 13:21 (MSG)
GOD went ahead of them in a Pillar of Cloud during the day to guide them on the way, and at night in a Pillar of Fire to give them light; thus they could travel both day and night.
ROMANS 15:4 (MSG)
Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God pours a lot of energy into leading us.
PRAYER
God, when I look back on my life I can see how you've been leading and guiding me. It's true that I haven't always responded to your guidance. And there are even a few things in my life right now where I'm not fully engaging your instructions. Stay with me and continue to move me forward. If you don't give up on me I'm not going to give up on you. Amen.

THANKFULNESS
PSALM 50:23 (ABP)
The people who honor me are those whose worship is infused with thankfulness -- those who follow along the pathway of salvation that I reveal.
COLOSSIANS 2:7 (ABP)
Sink your roots deeply into Christ. Allow him to become the foundation of your life. If you do that, the truth-infused faith in which you are being instructed will become established and your life will overflow with thankfulness.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
One of the great indicators of solid faith is unending gratitude.
PRAYER
Generous God, you've given us so much. Yet we're so forgetful -- distracted by the circumstances of life. Forgive me for my ho-hum approach to faith. Fill me with unending gratitude so that your blessings will continue to spill out onto those around me. I pray this in the name of Christ who is my life. Amen.

God, my life is full of wonderful experiences, relationships, family, food, pets, toys, and possessions, It's been an incredible life, and I can't really take credit for any of it -- even though I occasionally try. Keep me mindful of your blessings so that I can give you the credit you deserve. Amen.
