PRAYER
God, thank you for giving us your life-changing instructions. I confess, though, that I don't want my life to change too much. I'm too content with the way things are in my life to make a difference in the world. Speak to me through the Bible and give me a grander vision for life. I'm going to embrace your change. Amen.

God was pleased to trust us with his message. We didn't speak to please people, but to please God who knows our motives.

PRAYER
Jesus, you are the Living Word from God. As you did with the prophets of old, you have entrusted us with a message that points to you. I confess, though, that I worry more about what others think than what you want me to say. Redirect my attention so that I might become a faithful and reliable messenger of your good news. Amen.

GOD'S RELATIONSHIP

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

PRAYER
Loving God, it's mind-boggling that you would want to be friends with us. We let you down a lot and yet you persist in reaching out to us. I'm a flake but you are faithful. I pray that your kindness will change me so that I'm a better friend to you -- and everyone else. Because of what Christ has done I'm going to live as your friend. Amen.
