Great God, you deserve all the attention for your creation is beyond what words can fully describe. Forgive us for our attempts at autonomy and trying to do it all "my way." Gently put us back in our place as pinnacles of creation. Pinnacles, yes, but still creatures. I want to give my life over to honoring you. Amen.

I am amazed, God, that with all you've got going on you're committed to keeping an eye on me. Sometimes I feel like I have to go it alone and that the circumstances are way beyond what I can handle. Relieve me of all my fears. And help me to recognize the ways that you are responding to my cries for help. I am going to face today with great hope. Amen.

Great God, we're a bunch of "know-it-alls" in contrast to you who truly does know it all. You sent Jesus into the world to save us from our arrogance and to reveal your mission. Shock me into a greater awareness of what you're up to. I want to tag along with you and sing your praises along the way. Amen.

Good hearts are essential to relating to God.

PRAYER
God, you are truly good and you relate well to the good-hearted. I confess, though, that I'm overly concerned with external appearances and casual about the state of my heart. I'm in need of a spiritual heart transplant so that I can have the energy needed to do good. I'm trusting you for the surgery because I know that I can't possibly do this kind of operation on myself. Amen.
