DEUTERONOMY 2:7 (MSG)
For forty years now, GOD, your God, has been right here with you. You haven’t lacked one thing.
LUKE 22:35 (CEB)
Jesus said to them, “When I sent you out without a wallet, bag, or sandals, you didn’t lack anything, did you?”
They said, “Nothing.”
SUMMARY SENTENCE
When we're on assignment for God we're fully equipped -- lacking no necessity.
PRAYER
Loving God, you've not only called us to journey with you but you've equipped us for the journey. Yet, I do get anxious when the server at the restaurant is missing in action and the food is slow in coming. It's almost as though I enjoy having something to worry about. Help me to chill and trust you for all things. I'm going to rely on you and your provisions. It's all more than enough. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

LISTEN UP!
JEREMIAH 22:29 (MSG)
O land, land, land,
listen to God’s Message!
MATTHEW 10:27 (NLT)
What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear!
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Listen for and to what God is saying.
PRAYER
God, you have a lot to say through your words and actions. I'm especially grateful for Jesus the living word who draws us to you through his words and actions. I don't hear very well so I appreciate it that you repeat yourself when it is neccesary. Keep speaking and reframing your message until I fully engage with it. Although I've been at this a longtime my goal is to become an even better listener. Amen.

GOD IS PATIENT
1 KINGS 8:57 (MSG)
May God, our very own God, continue to be with us just as he was with our ancestors—may he never give up and walk out on us.
2 THESSALONIANS 3:5 (NLT)
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Our prayer is that God will continue to be patient with us.
PRAYER
God, we know that you are extremely patient. We confess to projecting our impatience onto you and that affects how we relate to you. We fail to live in your love and patience. So with confidence, I ask that you'd continue to be who you are and patiently lead our hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ. Amen.

GOD'S BELOVED
ZECHARIAH 2:8 (ABP)
The God over all of the Heavenly army says, "If anyone lays a hand on you, they are attacking my most beloved."
MATTHEW 25:40 (ABP)
Whatever you've done for my uncelebrated people–even the least important of them–you've done for me.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
God has a habit of siding with the least and most vulnerable.
PRAYER
God, I'm grateful that you care about me, even though I'm relatively unimportant to the rest of the world. Forgive for thinking that I need power and attention to fulfill my purpose. Help me to find my significance in your love. And assist me in embracing all who are seen by the world as unimportant. That is my purpose. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
