GOD'S UNCONVENTIONAL WORK

How open are you to the activity of God that is unusual? Do his surprises throw you for a loop or maybe they become an obsession? What should be our response to his signs and wonders?

PRAYER
God, you do incredible things, some of which we struggle to explain. Your Kingdom transcends our small experience of reality. Help me to be open to the unconventional when it points to your Kingdom. How have you experienced God's faithfulness in your life? Is it related to health? Work? Calling and purpose? Friendship? Peace? Financial provision?

PRAYER
Father, thank-you for your faithfulness to me. You are who you say you are, and you do what you say you will do. As a perfect heavenly father, I can trust you completely with my life. TROUBLES

Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

God is concerned about eveything that troubles you.

DAILY FODDER
In my personal prayer pattern Wednesdays are my worry days ("Worry Wednesday"). I take all the things which trouble me (the illnesses, climate, poverty, injustices, wars, and ongoing crises) out of the mental box where I store them. I spread them out for examination and I tell God about my concern over each item as I ask him if there is something new that he'd like me to do about them. I spend time listening. Then, at the end I put them all back into the box, close the lid, and return them to the shelf until next Wednesday — or until I'm prompted to action otherwise. How do you process the troubles in your life?

PRAYER
God, it seems like there is no end to the problems in my life. I'm grateful that I don't have to process them on my own. Having said that, I inexplicable still try to do just that. I hold on to the worries and fears. Help me to completely release them to you. I'm not going to worry over the big or the small problems. Amen!

What are some of the alternatives to prayer? How fruitful are these alternatives?

PRAYER
Gracious God, you never seem to grow tired of listening to us — even when our prayers are poorly thought out and shaped by our agendas rather than yours. Yet, in spite of your relaxed posture, we've turned prayer into an obligation and ordeal. Help me to worry less about the forms my prayers take and my prayer track-record. I'm simply going to focus on staying in touch. Amen!
