Each generation tells the next about your faithfulness.
COLOSSIANS 2:6-7 (CEV)
You have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord. Now keep on following him. Plant your roots in Christ and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were taught. And be grateful.
SUMMARY SENTENCE
Sink your generational roots into Christ.
DAILY FODDER
What does it look like to have a deep commitment to Christ that transcends generations?
PRAYER
Christ Jesus, you are the source of stability in my life. People and generations come and go but you remain faithful and steady. I confess that in contrast to your deep commitment to us, I encourage shallowness in my life by taking a sprinkler approach to watering my faith. I need regular deep-root soaking. Help me to sink roots so that I can withstand the storms. I want roots that go so deep that they even impact the lives of my great-grandchildren. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
