Generous God

For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. ~ Psalm 107:9 (NLT)

We have all received one blessing after another. God’s grace is not limited. ~ John 1:16 (NIRV)

Generous God, when we stop and think about it, we realize how much we have received from you. We are deeply moved. Although, sometimes we forget and complain about things we think we need. Cure us of that spiritual disease. Use your Holy Spirit to turn us into grateful people who minute-by-minute acknowledge your generosity. Praise you! Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
