Awesome!

How awesome are your works, Lord! Your thoughts are so deep! ~ Psalm 92:5 (CEB)

And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. ~ 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NLT)

God, your gifts are so incredible that we need special help from your Holy Spirit to understand what you have given to us. Even then, we sometimes listen to the spirit of the world instead of your Spirit. Help us to listen and receive more consistently. Help us to know the wonderful things that you have freely given to us. We intend to bask in the awesomeness of that knowledge today. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
