Better together

Bless God in the great congregation. ~ Psalm 68:26 (CEB)

Every day, they met together in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness and simplicity. They praised God and demonstrated God’s goodness to everyone. ~ Acts 2:46-47 (CEB)

Holy God, there is something unique about being with others to worship you. I praise you when I am by myself but it is even better when we are all together. I confess that it is hard work to be with some of your people. And it is difficult to leave the comfort and quiet of my own home. But you are honored when I get outside myself. Bless you, God! Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
