The people from the family of Judah who have escaped and are left alive will be like plants that send their roots deep into the ground and produce fruit above the ground. ~ 2 Kings 19:30 (ERV)

~ Matthew 1:12-16 (ERV)
Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes your activity stays hidden -- buried underground like roots -- until it is time for your gifts to surface and produce fruit. For a long time people waited for the coming of the Messiah. And now we are waiting for his return. We desire to eat the fruit from your trees. We want to experience your peace. I confess that I get anxious because so much of what you do is unseen to my eyes. I repent of the anxiety. Help me to live a trusting life. With your help that's what I want to do today. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
