St Nicolas Day

All praise to you God. The plans you set in motion a long time ago are still moving forward. You have saved people and called them together to be your church. And ultimately your church prevails because you have called it together. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this operation. I find my identity and confidence in your church. Sometimes I get distracted and waver. Forgive me and keep me from that. I have confidence in you and how you are defeating death -- even today. I'm going to live as a Christian optimist! Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
