New day

The day belongs to you! The night too! You established both the moon and the sun. ~ Psalm 74:16 (CEB)

Now our salvation is nearer than when we first had faith. The night is almost over, and the day is near. ~ Romans 13:11b-12a (CEB)

Almighty God, you are definitely in control. You created everything and you will eventually recreate everything. The time of re-creation is even closer today than yesterday. Help me to realize that the dark times are soon going to be over. The light of a new day is on the way. Please keep me awake to that promise. Keep me from being depressed by the darkness I see in myself and others. I want to distance myself from very everything that is dark and to live a life full of your light. I want to live now in light of the future. That's my goal for today. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
