Faithful God

I myself taught Israel how to walk, leading him along by the hand. But he doesn't know or even care that it was I who took care of him. ~ Hosea 11:3 (NLT)

If we are disloyal, he stays faithful because he can’t be anything else than what he is. ~ 2 Timothy 2:13 (CEB)

Faithful and loyal Father, even when people disrespect you, you continue to stay loyal to them. You keep your word even when others do not keep theirs. That is who you are -- a steady and faithful God whose love and kindness is greater than our understanding. That is a relief and a joy. When I realize what kind of God you are my faith is fed. It's like a good meal that gives me the energy to go out and live for you in the world. I acknowledge that sometimes I fail you. But I know that your forgiveness is real. I want that forgiveness to flavor everything I do today. Amen.

Challenging Words

  • Disloyal -- to not be loyal, to lack in faith, to be inconsistent, to not be a friend when you say that you are a friend
  • Disrespect -- to do or say something that shows you do not respect someone, to scorn, to insult

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
