Freedom

I sing praises to the Lord for his great victory! ~ Exodus 15:1 (CEV)

If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. ~ John 8:36 (CEV)

Lord, I want to join in your victory song. For you have certainly won our freedom. Sometimes I still think like a slave. It's hard to adjust to being free. But you stick with us. You continue to nudge us forward into greater freedom. So, I pray that your Hold Spirit would work in my head and heart today. Help me to live as the free person I am. I leave behind all the chains and constraints which belonged to my past. And I bask in the freedom that Christ the Son has won through his death on the cross and victory over the grave. Amen.

Challenging Words
Slave -- a person who is forced to work or act for another person, someone without freedom
Nudge -- to lightly or gently touch or push
Bask -- to enjoy, relax, or take pleasure in

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
