Say it

Stand up and speak to the people. Tell them everything that I tell you to say. ~ Jeremiah 1:17 (ERV)

We don’t tell people about ourselves. But we tell people that Jesus Christ is Lord...
~ 2 Corinthians 4:5a (ERV)

God, you have spoken. And you have given us something to say to the world. We confess, though, that we mostly like to talk about ourselves -- or the things which seem important to us. That is strange. If we really believe that you've given us something to say, we need to say it. I need to say it. Please help me to share the Jesus message today. Help me to overcome my poor choice of words and the fear that I might mix things us. Your Holy Spirit will enable me to tell people that Jesus Christ is Lord. Today I will live to tell people about Jesus. Amen.

Difficult Words
Strange -- something unusual, something that is not the way it should be, a mystery
Overcome -- defeat, conquer, have success over

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
