Save me, Lord!
We can no longer trust anyone!
All the good, loyal people are gone. ~ Psalm 12:1 (ERV)
Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” Simon Peter answered, “Lord, where would we go? You have the words of eternal life. ~ John 6:67-68 (CEV)
Lord, the world is full of unstable people who want us to pay attention to them. So many people want us to listen to them and their confident opinions. They think they are authorities worth listening to. Sometimes it is really hard to know who I should trust. And sometimes, because I desire to be important or rich, I allow them to trick me into trusting them. That is sad. There is one thing I do know, though -- you don't ever trick us. You don't lie to us. You are true to your word. So, I am not going to be discouraged by all the pathetic people in the world. Instead, I'm going to look for and find eternal encouragement in you and your word. Amen.
Difficult Words
Eternal -- something that has no end. It continues on and on forever.
Unstable -- unbalanced, likely to fail, unsafe, wobbly, dangerous, kooky
Pathetic -- troubling, something or someone to be pitied, poor, very bad, very weak

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
