Lord, you are the mysterious God who is full of blessings, which you freely give away. We are blessed to have Jesus and to have heard his message. You do all of this for us -- and a lot more -- even though we are not very obedient. You bless people who don't deserve blessings. When it comes to your blessings, you have under-promised. And your generosity motivates me toward greater obedience. Amen.
Challenging Words
- blessings -- something given to you that helps you, makes you happy or satisfied. Blessings are the signs of God's approval or love.
- under-promised -- If someone gives you more than they have said they will give, they have under-promised. For example, if your friends says "If you drive me to the mall, I will give you $5 so you can buy gasoline." But then when you take him to the mall, he gives you $10. He promised $5 but gave you $10. That's $5 more than he promised.
