Mystery revealed

Know that the Lord is God. ~ Psalm 100:3

We know that Jesus Christ the Son of God has come and has shown us the true God. And because of Jesus, we now belong to the true God who gives eternal life. ~ 1 John 5:20 (CEV)

Lord God, my head spins when I think about you. You are such a mystery. But you make yourself known -- especially through your Son Jesus. Yet, the more I know about you, the more I realize that I know very little. The more I know of you, the more mysterious you are. Somehow, even though it makes my head spin, this mysterious knowledge gives me confidence. I know that I belong to you. And I realize that my knowledge of you is personal. I know and relate to you as a very generous friend. Thank you for making my head spin and allowing me a glimpse into the great mystery of eternal life. Amen.

Challenging Words

  • Head spins -- This is an idiom for the kind of confusion that comes when we get dizzy or disoriented

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
