Powerful God

Look! The powerful Lord God is coming to rule with his mighty arm. ~ Isaiah 40:10 (CEV)

All people will fear you, O Lord. All people will praise your name. Only you are holy. All people will come and worship before you, because it is clear that you do what is right. ~ Revelation 15:4 (ERV)

Indeed, you are the powerful Lord God. It is true that I don't always properly respect you. But there is no one or no thing as strong as you. No army, no spirit, no leader, no storm. You are the only being who deserves all respect and honor. And I am looking forward to the day when people from everywhere will through your grace join me in worshiping you -- and only you. For you are the source of all that is just and right. I pray that I might speed that day along by living out your justice and righteousness today. Glory to you, Lord Jesus. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
