From everywhere

People from many places will go there and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living, and we will follow him.” ~ Isaiah 2:3a (ERV)

People will come from east and west, north and south, and sit down to eat in God’s kingdom. ~ Luke 13:29 (CEB)
God, when you throw a party you invite everyone. People from everywhere are gathering to join the kingdom of God festivities. And maybe that's the hardest part for me. You're so generous and welcoming. But I'm not sure that I want to be around some of the people you're inviting. They haven't had to go through what I went through to get here. And many of them are from evil groups of people. I'm pretty certain that some of them have committed acts of terrorism and hate against my people. Why do you have to be so welcoming! You're not fair! But then again, maybe that's how I got invited. Teach me how to party your way! Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
