Harmonizing

From sunrise to sunset, let the Lord’s name be praised! ~ Psalm 113:3 (CEB)

God is the one who makes us patient and cheerful. I pray that he will help you live at peace with each other, as you follow Christ. Then all of you together will praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Romans 15:5–6 (CEV)

God, the greatest praise occurs while your people are harmonizing -- living peacefully with each other. And that only happens when we are following Christ from the moment we wake-up until the moment we go to sleep. That is a lot of harmonizing and we too easily grow weary of each other. So, I pray for the peace of Christ to rule in our midst. Please, start with me and my voice. I am counting on you to grant me additional patience and a more cheerful disposition. Amen.

Challenging Words
  • harmonizing -- singing or acting together in a way that the voices or actions blend together in a beautiful way
  • weary -- tired or fatigued
  • disposition -- nature, temperament, character, constitution, makeup, mentality, way of being

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
