Pleasure

The Lord enjoys people who worship him and trust in his faithful love. ~ Psalm 147:11 (ERV)

Lord, it almost makes me giddy when I hear that you enjoy us. To give you pleasure gives me joy. And that joy drives me to know you more and to become more like you. Forgive me for the times that I seek pleasure in ways that are contrary to you. Use your resurrection power to keep me in such a worshipful state of mind and heart that I'm fully trusting in your faithful love. Amen.

  • giddy -- so excited or happy that you're almost dizzy, so happy you are unable to control yourself

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.
