Freedom

Then Moses held his hand over the sea. All that night the Lord drove back the sea with a strong east wind... ~ Exodus 14:21a (NCV)

We have freedom now, because Christ made us free. ~ Galatians 5:1a (NCV)
Lord, you have a long history of setting people free. You made a way for the Israelites to escape slavery in Egypt. You set us free from the power of sin and death when Jesus died and rose from the dead. I confess that I do not take full advantage of the freedom that has been given to me. Sometimes I act like a slave to bad or unhealthy things. Please forgive me and awaken the sense of freedom that I've allowed to fall asleep in me. Amen.
Challenging Words
  • Israelites -- In the Bible, God's chosen Hebrew people, the 12 tribes descending from the 12 sons of Israel, were called Israelites before they were organized into a nation.
  • take full advantage -- to receive all of the benefits. If we do not take full advantage we do not receive all of the benefits that are rightfully ours.
