Patience
Your days of mourning will come to an end. ~ Isaiah 60:20b (NLT)
Keep yourselves safe in God’s love, as you wait for the Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy to give you eternal life. ~
Jude 21 (ERV)
Loving Heavenly Father, when we are in pain it is so hard to believe that things will ever get better. But you know how that is. You sent your Son to die for us. That must have been a horrible experience for you. So, you understand. Help me to be patient -- like you are patient. I'm not yet very good at patience. But I am going to need a lot of it to get through the ordeals I face. I trust in your love and mercy -- and that you will help me to get through the ordeals in a healthy way. Amen.
Challenging Word
- ordeals -- An ordeal is a very difficult and hard situation. It is a situation that wears us out. Ordeals is the plural form of ordeal. Often when we are having a hard time in one area of life we experience difficulties in other areas, too. Rarely do we experience an ordeal. We usually experience ordeals.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
