Restoration

Jerusalem says, “The Lord is right, but I refused to obey him. Listen, all you people, and look at my pain..." ~ Lamentations 1:18a (NCV)

I will get up and go to my father, and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you..." ~ Luke 15:18 (CEB)
Gracious Father, pain and misery are the natural consequences of our stubborn sinfulness. We seem to be experts at making trouble for ourselves. And I am the chief troublemaker. But you are the chief healer. Through the sacrifice of Christ you deal with the pain by forgiving the sin behind it. And if that were not enough, you welcome us with open arms. We are totally messed-up and broken people but you still welcome us to your family table. You are so mind-boggling awesome! From now on I'm going to listen more closely to you. Amen.
Challenging Words
  • mind-boggling -- overwhelming or exciting to the point where both the mind and emotions have a difficult time processing everything that is happening, beyond understanding or comprehension

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
