The Anchor

You defended me and brought me back to life. ~ Lamentations 3:58 (ERV)

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. ~ Hebrews 6:19a (NLT)
Lord, sometimes I think and feel that the world is falling apart around me. If I focus too much on the problems out there I get depressed. Disappointment and fear suck the life out of me. But the good news is that in the midst of all the darkness, you are a strong and reliable light. You keep it all together and in doing so you restore my soul. Even when things look really bleak I find my hope in you. And I am going to continue to trust you for the future. The rising tide will never get so bad that the waves will wash me away from you. You are my anchor and today I'm going to be positive and upbeat because you fill me with confidence. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
