Timing

Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. ~ Isaiah 40:2a (NLT)

God says,
“At the right time I heard your prayers.
On the day of salvation I helped you.”
I tell you that the “right time” is now,

and the “day of salvation” is now.
 ~ 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NCV)
God, you always seem to show up at exactly the right time. Just when we need you, you are here. And you provide what we need -- pardon from sin, rescue, salvation... Today I am going to resist all the voices, from within and without, which would have me believe that I've been forgotten and abandoned. I repent from letting this unfounded victim mentality define my day. You have heard my prayers. You have saved me. You have forgiven me. Thank you for being here. Amen.
Challenging Words
  • unfounded -- without good basis, no good reason to think or act in a certain way
  • victim mentality -- thinking that you are powerless because of what has happened to you or thinking that you can't do anything because of what you believe has happened to you

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
