God's love

Your love means more than life to me... ~ Psalm 63:3 (CEV)

I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord! ~ Romans 8:38–39 (CEV)
Gracious God, there is nothing more important in my life than being loved by you. There is nothing I do -- nothing that anyone does -- nothing in life that happens -- nothing -- absolutely nothing can cause you to love me less. Even when I mess up and make really awful mistakes -- even when I commit the worst sin imaginable -- you still love me. And that amazes me. It drives me to love you back. Sometimes I'm not very good at loving you. My interests in you are often self-centered. I'm either trying to advance myself or get something from you. But I'm trusting that you'll grow me past that. Please continue to remind me of your love so that I can deepen my love for you. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
