Lord, sometimes I feel like people don't understand me. Worse, yet, they look down on me. People like me are shameful to people like them. We trust in you. But you barely exist in the world of their minds. So they think we're stupid and they feel shamed by being around us. You are going to remove our shame and use us -- just as you used the most shameful moment of Christ in order to save the world from sin. Since we are a part of his family we share in his victory over sin and shame. So, I'm not going to let the shortsightedness of others define my life. I'm not going to look to them to decide what is shameful and what is not. From now on I'm going to look to you alone. Amen.
