Respect

The Lord All-Powerful says, “A son honors his father...” I am a father, so why don’t you honor me? ~ Malachi 1:6 (part) (NCV)

And everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and bring glory to God the Father. ~ Philippians 2:11 (NCV)
Blessed God, you are worthy of all honor and praise and glory and respect! I probably don't say that enough. And when I do confess that "Jesus is Lord," it is often mechanical and mindless. Help me to fully engage in worship -- not just on Sundays -- but on all days -- at all times -- and through all actions. Honoring you is my highest and most important calling. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
