Savior

The Lord your God turned that curse into a blessing because the Lord your God loves you. ~ Deuteronomy 23:5 (CEB)

I don’t judge a person who hears my words but does not obey them. I didn’t come to judge the world. I came to save the world. ~ John 12:47 (NIRV)
Kind and loving God, any way that one looks at it, you are on our side. You turn bad things into good. You show mercy when we fail to obey you. That does not excuse our sin. It only makes it more obvious. You are really kind but we still disobey you. Your mercy does eventually start to eat at the hardness in our hearts. Indeed, you are saving me -- saving us. Please give me the pleasure of awareness. I want to be aware of how much you have done and how much you are doing as the Savior. I'm going to pay attention. Amen.

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
