No war
In the last days,… Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore. ~ Isaiah 2:2a, 4b (NLT)
Soldiers asked, “What about us? What should we do?”
John answered, “Don’t cheat or harass anyone” ~ Luke 3:14a (CEB)
Lord, I grew up in a world which glorified the courage and aggressiveness of soldiers. But it appears that in your new system there is no room for soldiers to be soldiers. Aggression is a part of the old and passing era. Please help me to start making the necessary adjustment to your new way of doing things. I want to be a part of what you are doing. But I admit that there are times when I still allow the old ways to get the best of me. Help me to get past this "need" to dominate. For you are the Prince of Peace -- and you are transforming not just the world but my life with it. Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
