Peace
"I will give peace, real peace, to those far and near, and I will heal them,” says the Lord. ~ Isaiah 57:19 (NCV)
Christ is our peace. ~ Ephesians 2:14 (CEB)
Lord, my experience with your peace is mixed. On the one hand I feel like I am at peace with you. But there are some people -- some of whom claim to be your people -- who do not make me feel very peaceful. These Christians are more annoying than pagans! It's probably at least partially my fault because I want to set them all straight. Please calm my spirit. Transform me into a true person of peace so that I can calmly deal with these people. I believe that it can happen because you have established peace through the cross and modeled the practice of it through your ministry. And you have empowered me with your Holy Spirit. I'm looking forward to the challenge. In the name of the Prince of Peace I pray, Amen.
*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS
The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul. The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
