Faithfulness

They turn their backs on me, but in times of trouble they cry out to me, ‘Come and save us!’ ~ Jeremiah 2:27 (NLT)

So remain faithful to my love for you. ~ John 15:9 (CEV)
Lord, you are totally faithful to your word, yourself, and your people. There is no wavering in you. I, however, am a different story. Sometimes I'm on fire for you and at other times I'm on fire for the latest fad to catch my attention. I am a fickle Christian. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can remain faithful to your incredible love. There is no way that I can do this on my own. Fortunately, I know that I can count on you. And that is what I am doing. Amen.
Challenging Words
  • wavering -- shaky, unsteady, not reliable
  • fickle -- frequently changing -- especially loyalties, affections, or love interests, unstable, not to be counted on

*ABOUT THE
DAILY TEXTS

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
