Fully committed

“Bring the people to me to hear my words. I want them to learn to have respect for me as long as they live in the land. I want them to teach my words to their children.” ~ Deuteronomy 4:10 (NIRV)

When Barnabas arrived and saw evidence of God’s grace, he was overjoyed and encouraged everyone to remain fully committed to the Lord. ~ Acts 11:23 (CEB)
Gracious Lord, I'm one of the people who needs to learn more respect for you. You have been so kind and merciful to us -- leading your people -- sacrificing your Son Jesus for us -- teaching us your word. Help us -- help me -- to be FULLY committed to you -- just as you have been fully committed to us. Might I bring joy to others who see how you are still at work in my life. Amen.

The Daily Texts have been published by the Moravian Church since 1731. In 2015 I started posting these Bible verses for my spiritual formation students at Pacific Islands University. In the process of responding to the verses, I found the rhythm of looking for a common thread and writing a prayer based on that key idea to be helpful for my own soul.

The prayers are more or less modeled on the TRIP method, which is what I ask my students to do in their journaling. ~ Brad Boydston
